About the place
HostelGlacier House Hostel combines economy, convenience, and congeniality in support of your Alaskan adventure! Come in winter for the aurora borealis and winter sports, or in summer for the fantastic light-all-night. A great place to stage from for all your adventures in interior Alaska!
Social and fun
The large backyard with grill and firepit available encourage socializing in summer under the midnight sun, and year around there is plenty of room in the common areas to hang out, we have board games available, piano and guitar if you play. (Just please respect posted quiet hours!)

The hostel itself is in a quiet residential area neighboring a park, yet within a mile and a half radius there are three major grocery stores, a dozen restaurants, and four stores featuring outdoor gear.

Good to know
Glacier House was originally our family home, full of kids and friends. While loving Fairbanks as our "home base", we have always loved to travel, and hostels have long been our first choice for lodging. When the kids grew up we decided it was a perfect opportunity to offer the kind of experience we enjoyed to others. We have been happily welcoming the world to Fairbanks and Glacier House since 2009.

Firearms, bows, knives, or other weapons are not allowed in the hostel buildings nor on the grounds except as noted here. This is Alaska and we appreciate you may have excellent reason to be traveling with firearms or other weapons. If so, you may either keep them locked in your personal vehicle or allow us to secure them at time of check-in.

The owner Gay Elen is terrific? she is like a mother for guests, giving rides to the grossery stor, to the University (if it is on the way) Alex and Gay are always smiling and friendly, it is like at home. The house is big, two kitchens, two bathrooms, all facilities are awailable
About the cleanest hostel I have ever stayed at.....the place felt like home.

Not much to like, very small and basic basement apartment with one shower/toilet for at least 8 persons. Though the shower was in good condition once I got in...
